| | 09/03/2008 15:18:51 | On Thursday, August 28th at approximately 8:00 AM, UMCal experienced a disruption in service, which lasted until approximately 10:30 AM. During this time, some users were unable to access UMCal altogether, while others reported intermittent service and getting “kicked out.” The cause of this disruption was a misconfigured Oracle Connector for Outlook (OCFO) client connected to the UMCal server, which was causing open processes on the server to abnormally exit. After restarting the UMCal application, OIT staff was able to identify the problem and contact the user to correct the configuration. On Sunday, August 31st, during the regular maintenance window, a patch was applied to the UMCal server to prevent similarly misconfigured clients from terminating open processes in the future. |
